Medford dentist, Dr. Poorva Parnaik uses dental bridges as a replacement option for patients with missing teeth. There are many types of dental bridges and Dr. Parnaik will help you make the best choice for your needs and goals.
About Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is used to replace missing teeth by bridging the gap in a person’s smile. A dental bridge can either be removable or fixed and made from a variety of tooth-like materials.
In most cases, Dr. Parnaik will support the choice for a fixed dental bridge as a long term solution for missing teeth. The dental bridge can either be supported by dental crowns and/or dental implants. Dr. Parnaik will prepare any teeth as needed to ensure a solid foundation for the dental bridge.
The dental bridge will be fabricated in a dental laboratory. You may have a temporary bridge to wear in the intermediate time period. In approximately 2 weeks from your initial visit, you will return for the delivery of the final restoration.
Dental Implants vs. Dental Bridges
If you have missing teeth, you are likely considering either dental implants or a dental bridge. Dr. Parnaik offers both options for replacing missing teeth and can help you determine which is best for you.
Dental implants offer the most life-like replacement for missing teeth, but not everyone will be a candidate. Dr. Parnaik will assess the condition of your bone, your age, health and the location of your missing teeth to determine if dental implants are right for you.
Another big difference between dental implants and dental bridges is cost. In most cases, dental implants are more expensive than bridgework, however, dental implants are less likely to need maintenance and can for some, be less expensive in the long term.
