Porcelain Veneers Medford, NJ

Just as a thin layer is added to the surface of a veneer tabletop, dental veneers use a thin layer of porcelain on top of the existing teeth to strengthen the underlying structure, prevent additional damage and improve the overall appearance.

Medford cosmetic dentist, Dr. Poorva Parnaik uses various types of dental veneers available to treat different issues specifically. In some cases, the teeth may need to be shaped slightly so the new veneers do not give the teeth an oversized appearance. This method and the natural materials used for porcelain veneers create veneers that have a particularly natural and healthy appearance.

About Dental Veneers

Dr. Parnaik offers several types of dental veneers depending on your needs and goals. The most common types of veneers are porcelain veneers and resin veneers.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth like shells that covers the front and sides of the tooth. Despite their delicate appearance, porcelain veneers are incredibly strong and deliver very natural looking results.

Resin Veneers

Composite resin veneers, similar to tooth bonding, is a type of restoration that requires little or no tooth preparation. Dr. Parnaik will use a biocompatible, tooth colored material to correct minor problems with symmetry, discoloration, or damage.

About the Porcelain Veneer Procedure

Typically two are three visits are needed to complete a porcelain veneer procedure.

First, Dr. Parnaik will prepare the teeth for porcelain veneers by removing a small amount of tooth structure. This step is necessary to ensure a comfortable fit and natural appearance. Some patients may be candidate for other procedures such as minimal or “no-prep” dental veneers or resin veneers.

Porcelain veneers will be fabricated in a dental laboratory. Dr. Parnaik will place temporary veneers on the teeth while they are being made. In about 2 to 3 weeks, you will return to our Medford dental office for the final delivery. Dr. Parnaik will carefully bond the veneers to the teeth for a virtually invisible restoration.

Porcelain Veneers FAQs

What is the cost of porcelain veneers?

Patients often ask how much do porcelain veneers cost or how much is a single tooth veneer. Unfortunately, there isn’t a single price or answer we can give. There are several options for veneers such as resin veneers or porcelain veneers. If you have minor issues and want a lower cost solution, resin veneers (tooth bonding) may work for you. Dr. Parnaik will present you with the various options and review the cost of treatment prior to any work being done.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Dr. Parnaik designs porcelain veneers to last a lifetime. You can extend the life of your veneers by maintaining a healthy diet, brushing and flossing regularly and visiting the dentist at least twice a year for professional cleaning and examination.

What are the pros and cons of porcelain veneers?

The benefits of porcelain veneers is that they are highly stain resistant, durable, long lasting and very natural-looking. A draw back of the procedure is that they are not reversible because the dentist must remove natural tooth structure. If you are concerned about the pros and cons of porcelain veneers, Dr. Parnaik can help you weigh your options and make the best choice for your long term health and happiness.
